The Rankings Explained.s a seperate set of rankings
All players start with 1000 points
The player with the most points is ranked #1
The rankings are a descending list, by points scored
Players who have not played for 30 days are removed from the rankings
Points are won or lost according to an 'Elo' rating system, Depending on the relative number of points of your opponent - you stand to win/lose up to 30 points
The better player (with the higher score) stands to win less - and loose more - according to a logarithmic formula based on the points difference.
When you are challenged - the amount of points you stand to win/loose are presented to you.
When you are considering challenging someone - you can view the potential points loss/gain (the same figures as above) - by single clicking the player.
The Elo system is designed such that your score (points) in the ranking are more of a reflection of your skill at the game - rather than how much or little you play.
If you're mathematically minded you can see the formulas involved at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
