User instructions for the 3d version

THIRD DRAFT SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Taking a shot

You can take a shot in either the 2D or 3D view

Click the ball you'd like to hit (with the cue - the cueball!), then move the mouse 'away' - much as in the Classic Quicksnooker - your cursor will dissappear and you are now moving the cue.

In the 3D views you pull the cue back (increase power) by moving the mouse 'down' (towards you).
To swing the cue left, right - move the mouse left/right.

To swing the cue UP and DOWN - use your MOUSE-WHEEL
If you don't have a mouse wheel - buy another mouse (kidding - will do some alternate method)

Whilst moving the cue - you can adjust the spin (position of the calk-spot) by either holding down shift and moving the mouse, or by right clicking to cancel the shot, and then re-addressing the cue ball by clicking where you would like to hit it. IMPORTANT - at this point, (when you have cancelled cue movement) - you can also choose to hit a different ball.. - this is very usefull in the 3D view to see if a ball will 'go' (without having to check the 2D view) - the camera will zoom to the selected ball, and you can swing the cue to see if it has a clear line to the pocket - once you're done checking - you can right click *twice* to return to the previous cue ball.

Resizing/moving views and panels

You may move and resize the various views and panels using windows like mouse commands - purple bars will apear when the mouse is over the various window handles that allow for resizing, a cyan bar appears for moving the view. You can close a view/panel with the red X in its top bar. - To reset the views, choose 'layout','reset layout' in the menus.

Layouts

You *will* find, that no matter how you lay the screen out - it's a compromise - You can have a nice big 3D view, but then your 2D view is too small. You can make the chat window 'big' but then you have to shrink your 3D view (etc, etc) So.... There are up to 9 seperate 'layouts' you choose which you are working with by pressing one of the number keys 1-9, you can then set the windows up how you like in *that* layout, quickly switch layouts by just pressing a number key - You might like to set up layout '1' as a balanced view with equal sized 2D and 3D Views, Layout '2' to have a BIG 2D view and a small 3D view, Layout '3' to Have a FULL SCREEN 3D view, with the other panels closed, layout '4' to have a massive chat window.. etc, etc - but it's entriely up to you.

Pause/Action replay (a bit flaky)

The keys P and R TOGGLE 'action replay' and 'paused' modes respectively When the action is paused (whether it is live action or 'replay' action) you are free to move the camera The camera may be panned, left, right, up and down by holding down the right mouse button and moving the mouse. The camera can be moved up, down using the keyboard up and down arrow keys. The camera can be moved In, Out, Left and Right using the keys W,S,A,D respectively (This is as per most First Person Shooters, Half Life, Doom Etc) - it's most easily done with the left Index finger on 'D' left Middle finger on 'W', left right finger on 'A' During an action replay (whilst paused) you can do a single frame advance with the '.' key. DON'T Press Escape - or you'll enter a whole 'nother world of 3D table editing (accessible via the design menu - most of which is very hard to use or understand without some extensive help 'wot i aint writ yet'
