GamePlay

QuickSnooker is a fast fun simulation.
You can play against a friend on one computer (taking it in turns)
You can play against the computer (and you ought to beat him on the easy level!)
You can play against a work colleague on your company network (don't let the boss catch you)
Or
You can play against players from all over the world (by the magic of the Internet)

The Basics

The defualt game setting is that two human players start play on the same machine.
If you want to play the against the computer computer select the Players menu and then (for example) 'Player 1 versus computer (You Break)'.
In the registered version you can select the difficulty of the computer opponent - The 'Hard' level is a real challenge for even a pro'.

Taking a shot

There are two ways to take a shot - you might like to try them both to see which you are more comfortable with:

1) ButtonDown-Drag-Release

  • Move the mouse over the cueball (NB: If your stupid enough you can use any ball as the cueball)
  • Hold down the left mouse button
  • Move the mouse smoothly 'away' from the cueball. *Note*
  • Release - the Cueball will be 'Fired' down the white line.

    2) Click-Move-Click

  • Move the mouse over the cueball
  • Click the left mouse (without moving the mouse !)
  • Move the mouse smoothly 'away' from the cueball,
  • Click the left mouse button - the Cueball will be 'Fired' down the white line.

*Note* The thin white line indicates the path the ball will follow - (it's length is not representative of the distance that it will travel) - A Thicker yellow line appears on the cue side of the ball - A % power indicator also appears. As a guide 100% power will send the cueball approximately 1.5 times the length of the table.)

    Canceling a shot

To Cancel a shot, Use the right mouse button whilst dragging/moving.

    Cue Ball Spin

As with the real game it is possible to control the movement of the cueball after it has struck the object ball using spin.
The spin indicator shows where you will strike the cueball - to beat the computer you will need to play strategically, carefully positioning the cueball after each shot.
Click on the white ball to set the strike position, Striking the cueball high will cause the white to follow on, low will cause it to spin back, wheras left and right will send the white towards the chosen side.

    The Score Panel

The current player is shown in the top centre of the score panel.
Their current break is shown underneath.
Below again is the ball or balls that the current player should now aim for
The score from the break is not added to the players total until their turn is over.

    Repositioning the white

If the white ball is potted you are required to reposition it with the 'D'. A white circle will appear, showing the proposed location - use the left mouse button to select your chose position, Dont rush it, and think about the shot you're about to take - you only get one chance to position the ball.
